Baking With CBD

As the holidays are right around the corner, this can sometimes be a stressful time for many people. The rush and anxiety of having to go back home and reunite with your entire family can be a bit too much, but why not get in the spirit of the holidays and chill out with your favorite baked goods!

With CBD becoming more mainstream with its legalization in all 50 states, CBD products have been finding their way all over menus and cafes all over the US. Nothing is better than sinking your teeth into a CBD edible after a long day at work, so why not make it yourself during the holiday season? Your cakes, cookies, and brownies can all benefit from a bit of CBD, so here are a few tips at how you can make it at home!

Incorporating CBD into your baked goods

When baking with CBD, always remember that CBD needs to be extracted into a fat. One of the simplest ways to do this is to use a full spectrum CBD tincture and combine it with a coconut oil base. Together they go perfectly and you can include it in any baked recipe of your choice. When it comes to how much CBD to use, it really depends on your preferred desired dosage per serving. For example, if you’re making a dozen cookies, we would normally recommend multiplying the recommended dosage (on your CBD tincture) by 12 and add it to the recipe.

Choosing the right CBD to bake with

There are a few things to consider when you’re choosing the right CBD to bake with. Here are a few helpful tips to help you choose the right CBD to use in baking in order to achieve the best results.

Flavor – Many CBD tinctures are often flavored to make them more enjoyable to use! There are many times of flavors, from minty to fruity, our just staying classic with the herbal flavor. While the flavor depends entirely on personal preference, one should keep in mind the flavors you are mixing in with baking. Or if you want the herbal flavor of hemp to shine through. Making sure it all works together is important in order to achieve the best results and enjoy your yummy baked goods.

Concentration – You’ll want to make sure you add enough CBD to achieve your desired dosage across all your servings. To ensure you include enough CBD to make your edible potent enough to your desire, we recommend using a product with higher concentration that will require less liquid in order to achieve a full dose in your baked goods.

Base – While some CBD oils already contain a mix of fat (coconut oil), make sure if your oil doesn’t, you include some when it comes to baking. The base of a tincture is very important to pay attention to as some may not be very desirable to bake with. Make sure you’re always baking with trusted CBD products that you can count on to deliver purity and potency, like Hemped!
